As a result, bike accidents increase and traffic flow is slowed down. Bay Area Bike Route is an app that encourages bikers’ safety and improves the flow of traffic.

WHAT I LEARNED AND NEXT STEP
We focused on infrastructure, which is road sharing by car drivers and cyclists. Most of the roads have bike lanes, but some are without bike lanes. In the transportation system, the government and commuters are empowered to make changes. For the government, the goal is to improve the traffic condition and reduce the accident rate. For car drivers, their goal is to speed up without bikers blocking the road. For bikers, their goal is to have a safe and fast trip. The more cyclists plan their safe route before their trip and stay in bike lanes, the fewer accidents would occur, and the flow of traffic will be more smooth. As the bike accident rate decreases, more and more people would choose to commute by bike. Social capabilities help our solution in a way that people share their safe riding experience, get a reward and are ranked in the system.
